>midsummer night by christine drummond 21 June - 1 July, 2017
>french art studio is proud to present for the the third time in London a solo show by Christine Drummond, a French artist born and raised in Brazil. This exhibition is a beautiful celebration of the artist’s birth country as well a tribute to African culture, place where the artist has spent sometimes over the last years.
The artist inspiration comes from her direct urban and natural surroundings as well as from Brazilian folklore. Crowd scene is a particularly recurrent theme in her work, such as the beautiful carnival and market scenes series. According to Christine Drummond, crowd is a symbol of social exchange and diversity, from which arises a powerful positive energy.
The Ghanaian artist Ablade Glover whom Christine had the opportunity to work with in 2009, has had a great influence in the development of her work. She has captured his wonderful sense of texture from the exclusive use of the spatula. Christine has then gained an artistic freedom to develop a new aesthetic dimension: details have disappeared from the canvas to give power to spontaneity and to reach a new kind of abstraction.
Christine’s art is an intense sensorial experience, where vision, touch and hearing are constantly challenged. The use of vibrant colours, the bold strikes of the spatula and the underlying musical composition that drives her painting flow are the three intricate core elements of her creation process. Her art reflects a constant quest of happiness to give and to receive resulting in a wonderful testimony of her culture and heritage.
>french art studio will be back in Kensington in a beautiful space dedicated to art to feature this stunning selection of artworks at Josephine Clavel gallery 16 Victoria Grove W8 5RW
The opening will take place during the beautiful midsummer evening on 21 June from 6pm to 9pm in presence of the artist who will come specially from Rio.
