Sasha Bion Sasha Bion stitches together materials, papers and drawings to create organic-looking maps than seem to be continually morphing. The needle of her sewing machine bites into the paper, but also binds together fabric and paper to produce a new hybrid material that has a flesh-like texture. These maps express the wisdom of alternative dimensions and new frontiers. Through processes of deconstruction and reassemblage, Sasha Bion offers an unsettling coherence of a disjointed reality, while the intricacies of the sewn thread draw a new cartography, a physical way of mapping. Sasha Bion lives and works in London. She was born in the Reunion island in the Indian Ocean and her work is influenced by her 'creole' origins. She is graduated from Ecole des Beaux Arts in La Reunion and from Central St Martins school in London. | | ![]() |
