Le bestiare de Charlotte Champion

Charlotte Champion makes sculptures of animals that talk about human beings. A mouse trapped in a crystal block chases an unreachable cheese... Charlotte Champion likes to think we are just denatured animals. A toad is waiting for the kiss that will save his life... With humour and creativity, she questions who we are and reveals our secret dreams.

Charlotte Champion has developed her own technique to produce fantastic bronze sculptures with unusual lightness and very rich textures. When modeling the original, she agglomerates various materials with clay, stitched together with copper wire, to create uneven shapes that are reinforced by a sophisticated patina.  The bronze is then assembled with a steel structure to enable light constructions.

Charlotte Champion (b.1969) lives and works in Paris. She holds a Master in Modern History from La Sorbonne University and art diplomas from Atelier Nicolas Poussin and Atelier Jonathan Hirschfeld in Paris. Her work has been exhibited by several art galleries in France, Luxembourg and the USA. Her art has been recognised by numerous prizes and gold medals. Charlotte Champion is represented by The French Art Studio in the UK since 2008.
